When Does a Pet Need Diagnostics?

Because dogs and cats naturally mask discomfort, diagnostic tests are the only reliable window into their physiological condition.

  • Sudden Lethargy or Inappetence: Persistent vomiting, diarrhea, or refusal to eat.
  • Limping or Mobility Changes: Suspected fractures, torn ligaments, or acute arthritis.
  • Increased Thirst & Urination: Key indicators of diabetes, kidney stress, or Cushing's disease.

Pre-Anesthetic Safety Screening

Before any surgery or dental cleaning involving anesthesia, we perform baseline blood chemistry to ensure safety.

  • Organ Clearance: Confirms the liver and kidneys can process anesthetic agents safely.
  • Clotting Ability: Confirms healthy platelet levels to minimize surgical bleeding.
  • Customized Protocol: Allows our veterinary team to choose the gentlest anesthetic agents.

Diagnostic Imaging & Lab FAQs

Does my pet need sedation for X-rays?

Most pets stay relaxed with our gentle positioning techniques. If a pet is in significant pain or requires precise orthopedic angles, mild sedation ensures comfort and safety.

How long do blood test results take?

Our in-house lab provides complete blood counts and chemistry results within 15 to 30 minutes during your visit.

Does my pet need to fast before bloodwork?

For routine screening and fasting blood glucose or bile acids, fasting for 8 to 12 hours is recommended, though fresh water should always remain accessible.

Can you share digital X-rays with specialists?

Yes. All of our digital radiographs are DICOM-standard files that can be emailed directly to board-certified veterinary radiologists or surgeons if needed.
